They can be replaced with 194's I believe, and you can get those in red. However, the ones you get in red from Autozone, Wal Mart, etc will fade to pink within a couple of months.

What I did to get my red gauges is paint the 7 illumination bulbs with Red oil-based enamal paint. It only cost me $0.97 for the paint (I got the little Testors Hobby Paint jar), too. I did that in May, 2001 and they're still as bright and brilliant red as it was right after I did it.

    Whatever you decide, good luck.

if you get bulbs that are painted they will fade, if you get colored glass it will last alot longer, you can normally tell by looking at the color of the glass where it goes into the socket...unless they painted that too  ...either way...led bulbs will last the longest ;)

MTMike, you got any pics? I just happen to have some red oil-based paint in my basement. I am worried about light transmission, like is the paint too think to transmit light?

        Thanks

how hard is it to change those bulbs, I think I have 2 burnt inside my dashboard, the one with the RPM gauge indicator, and one in the gas indicator.

I can't get my digital camera to take good pics of it in the dark. Damn auto-focus/auto-apeture cameras

Here's a pic of Splitfire414's dash that he posted a while back that mine looks identical to:

Here's another one of jmeccia's you have to copy/paste: http://www.fbody.com/members/jmeccia/dashcluster.jpg

I don't know how they did them, but mine looks just like that, and thats how I did mine.

You have to see them in person to get a good idea.
