has anyone here removed their own tint? i'm getting my car retintned again. i'm getting black going to blue. it should be real nice. but their prices went up a WHOLE lot. 3 years ago it was 150 for everything. then i got the fronts taken off and put back on, and it was 50 for that. well guess not a whole lot, since they are charging 110 for the back to be done. but they want 45$ to take off the back tint. thats outrageous!!!

so can anyone help me out here. i'd rather take it off myself than pay that kinda money just to remove and destroy something.

    any help is appreciated. thanks!

    find an edge, pull

    scrape

use something like nail polish remover to get the glue off

heat will work too I think

I did mine.. cuz everywere where i wanted to get new tint wanted 50-75 bux to remove it.. SCREW THAT.. yeah on the side windows do what gregmondro said... it shouldnt leave anything.... but when u get to the back window... they use a differnt paste or ssutmhin i dont know but it left nothign but stickky **** all on my back window when i took mine off... i used paint thinnger and a razor blade to get it off... and dont even bother about trying to get the stuff off at the top of the rear window.... the dot matrix will just piss u off even more.. just stop there.. u cant even tell that its there unless u know

also it will take about 10 seconds to do each side window... and at least an hour to do the back one :)

thanks guys. the side windows are going off for free since teh tint didn't take to well to my windows. but the back is fine. but i want to replace the back since i'm changing the entire style of tint.(black tint to black/blue tint) i want it all to match up. hmm, an hour to do the back... nail remover and paint thinner will work? i'll probably do this task this weekend. hopefully its not raining.

If you have rear window defrost you may want to be extra careful.

Just use a flat razor blade and start srcaping. I did the same thing to my old tint to avoid the cost during new tint instillation. Just be patient and don't rush.
