• POLL: Which hood should I get?

I have a 99 red camaro, read my sig for more info. The exterior is basically stock, aside from a few goofy appearance mods like painted brake calipers and wierd ricey looking headlights.

My stock hood is getting old and banged up, so I think I will get a fiberglass hood to save weight. Here are the choices:

1)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2455342586&category=33 646

It is basically like an SS hood, but it is way larger and more exagerated.

2)
hood 2

I know the picture shows one for a 93-97, but VFN makes them just like that for a 99.

3)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2455312939&category=33 646

Again, VFN makes one for a 99+.

choice #1 is cheapest. But when I am already spending like $400, whats another hundred?

One more thing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33638

Is this spoiler cheesy lookin?? I like it, but I think it will look terrible without a body kit, which I can't get due to ground clearance issues.

I think my car will also look silly with a crazy aftermarket hood and a stock wussy spoiler. It will look out of balance.

Everyone voice an opinion... I am terrible at fashion decisions.

I think that spoiler looks horrible.

I like all the hood choices..but I would go with hood 2.

i was about to buy a functional ram air hood made of fiberglass for my firebird and i talked to my dads friend who works at a body shop and he said fiberglass hoods don't last very long and they sometimes crack becasue they aren't strong enough for the hood struts when closing them.

so i bought an OEM ws6 ram air hood made of SMC, which is a composite material and is much stonger then fiberglass and will last the lifetime of the car. also the functional scoops have made a difference in cooling, since i don't have an airbox the cold air is circulating in the engine compartment and it runs noticably cooler

just my two cents, also hood 1 looks the best

I like hood number 2 alot if you would get it you would need GFX and maybe a different spoiler. The spoiler that you picked out I like but like I said you would need a different hood and some GFX...

I think that Ram Air hood with the high rise spoiler and maybe some WW GFX would look awesome!

I would like to get GFX, but I have ground clearance issues as it is. This town was designed for pickup trucks. I scrape my nose all the time on driveways and such.

I won't get the huge spoiler. Does anyone know where to get a nice cheap RS type spoiler? THat would look good and be subtle.

It looks as though hood #1 is winning. That is just as well, since it is the cheapest. Personally I like #3 the best, but it is too aggressive looking for my 13 second v6.

Keep the votes coming.

hood 2 is pretty sick, but i wonder how it would look in profile.

nix the spoiler. if you really want a spoiler, i've seen a few SS style spoilers with a 2" higher flip that look nice... i'd get those were i in your position.

Put me down for hood 1. Hood 2 looks overwrought.

Ix-nay on the spoiler.
