Although it's snowing and my Intrepid is currently on the streets and my Firebird is parked in the garage, I have some major plans for it this summer.

For awhile I contemplated upgrading to a Trans Am, but then I realized I don't have the money for it, and I'd rather trade the Intrepid in for a Grand Am or something along that line, just something with lower miles.

Besides, I'm not a REAL big racer (usually), so it's all about the looks for me.

Which leads me to my next point. I bought my Bird and it had little tiny chips in the front bumper (most cars get these after a month of driving), but given it's black paint, and it was waxed, they are filled in with white wax it looks like.

I did a trick where you put vegetable oil on a rag and rub it in, and it took a lot of it out, but it seems to me as though the deeper ones didnt come out, and the paint seems to have been faded almost, compared to the metal (maybe it's because its plastic, rather than metal).

I want to make my front bumper look like new, but I don't have a lot of money to deal with this problem. I've heard of resanding, but I'm hardly mechanical, so...give me some suggsetions guys.

your only real option for your bumper is to get it repainted. see if you can find a really good deal. i got my front bumper repainted for about 150 a year ago and it still looks like id did the day i had it painted. the trick is to not follow cars so closely anymore. they throw up rocks and stuff that give you those nasty little chips. Your only other option is touch up paint. it will cover the chips (where you are saying it is white) but it will not look like new.

thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I'll have to take care of that when the Bird comes out of the garage this summer.
