  • Brake Dust

I have this recent problem. My car has always let off a lot of brake dust on the front rims, I've never had any trouble cleanign it off and making my rims shine. Recently I had my ignition cylinder messed up and I had the car sitting for about a month or so without wiping off the brake dust, I got my car fixed two weeks ago and since then I've had thsi problem, I can't get all the brake dust off. I've tried AtoZ wheel cleaner, and the one that I like the best, Armor All cleaner. I've wiped it and rised it off at least 10 times and some of it doesn't come off, seems to have become part of the rim. Its all over the sides, none in teh middle. Anyone know waht I can buy or anything I can do to get this damn brake dust off my rims?? I really hate all that black crap on top of it. thanks

westleys white wall tire cleaner. its a white spray bottle. my dad says its for the tire not the rim but ive NEVER had anything happen to my rims from using it. it gets off anything i can throw at it. one kid spilled coke on it, came off, dried egg after 2 weeks of it happening (didnt see it on the rim till later), came off easily. the egg i just sprayed it on, sat for 5 seconds, scrubbed with towel, sprayed it on again and scrubed and it was gone. ive been recomending this stuff forever and no one listens :(

Just before I put the Ceramix brakes on early this summer, I took my rims off and placed them in my yard. The one front tire had that brake dust on it that you are talking about that just didn't come off. I got the elbow grease out and went over the rims with steel wool, and that worked nicely to rermove all the embeded brake dust. I then got a can of clearcoat made for rims (at Pep Boys) and re-sprayed the rims fornt and back. They came out very nice, and it only took the clearcoat about an hour to dry.

            Try a claybar first.
            It is non-abrasive.
If that doesn't work, try Never Dull like he said.
