• WS6 style hood and airbox (functional) on 97 3.8...pics inside!!

I posted this in the I/E tech section, but I figure you guys over here would like to take a look at this as well...:

Myself and W68Firebird97 performed this today on his 97 3.8 Firebird using my hood and airbox, since my car has been out of commision for a few weeks. Will have track results and gains within the end of the week. Any questions, feel free to drop me a line.

Yes both cars were EXTREMELY dirty, but you get the point. And yes green on black looks kind of poopoo too, but ya know how it is.

We used a 4" dryer hose to connect the outlet on the airbox to the throttle body, similar to the whisper lid style on 98+ angle-bodied 3.8s. One issue we ran into was that the IAT sensor wires were not long enough to reach the OEM IAT sensor position on the airbox, so a little cutting and splicing was necessary.

All in all it looks (after a quick wash... ;) )and performs very well.

:D

Very nice.
I think my custom intake will be close to the bottom, probably by the oil filter or something.
That does look good, sorta ghetto tho :D
I want that hood too! :(

Where would i route it to?The way SLPs design is?
NE way This is alot smoother air than the CAI I made for free in the begining of the year w/ ADS drainage pipe, which BTW dropped .3 off my ET.
Also The only thing that ghetto is the dryer duct. And thats just about the same stuff that is used for the 98 model f body only it is black. This setup is by far better than the CAI from SLP.You have "cold" air moving about 1 ft. Compared to SLPs CAI that has to come from under the car all the way to the TB which is about 3ft from entering the air filter to the TB.And have you ever felt the pipes from the CAI after driving for only a couple of minutes, Its hot as hell. Granted I wont get good times due to the weather. But if I had this car when fall comes around this setup IMO would be the best.
