• Buffing and detailing?

I took my car to get my window motor replaced and my speakers put in at my father's friend's body shop (high-quality place by the way) last week. I was telling one of his workers about how I really wanted to do an overhaul of my exterior when the spring came. I was asking him about claybars, and he just told me to bring my car in in the spring and get it buffed and detailed @ the shop. He said it would take away most of the minor scratches in the paint. He said it would be around $150. It trust the guys at the shop.

What I want to know is if anyone has got their car's paint professionally buffed before and how it came out. Were you pleased? How much different was it then it's condition before getting it buffed?

    Thanks!!!

it all depends on how good the guy can use his tool ...to make it come out really nice you have to use a much stronger compound than store bought ones but you have to know what the hell your doing...if it's really bad they might wetsand it for you which can be good and bad depending on how thick your clear coat is...if they go to far it might come out worse than when it went in.....most guys in bodyshops know what there doing...but yes it prolly will come out very nice...I know when we do polish jobs at my dealerships bodyshop they come out really nice, and the guys doing it arent even the best...it'll prolly be worth it..and come out beautifully

I got my first car detailed for $100 at a local shop that specializes in detailing. It definitely made the car look better, but don't expect them to be able to get out any really bad scratches. Other people probably won't notice any change (unless your car really really needs to be detailed), but you will probably see the difference since you're more familiar with your car.
