    I saw in one post that you just sprayed simple green all over your engine and washed it off with a hose. Do you have to cover up all the electrical stuff or can you just spray the simple green on that too??

      not that i'm trying to get on your nerves, but a mechanic i worked with told me that the stuff that makes the engines shine isn't good for the engine. i didn't ask why, and i don't know if the tire one stuff is the same...but that's what he told me.

        I would also like to know what needs to be covered up in the engine. (electrical parts, ect.)

          I just covered the computer and the distributor.

          Used some degreaser, and then blasted the water!

          Worked like a charm...

            you can spray the alternator?! my engine has been filthy besides when i wipe it down with a damp cloth ever since i got the car just because i'm afraid of messing something up.

              Yeah, it was real dirty.....I don't think the previous owner paid much attention to appearance :mad: . I just washed all the dust and dirt off with soap and water then went over it with some Meguiars. :D

                Hi all!

                This is an old thread but, I just washed the engine bay yesterday and I wanted to post the picture... I still need to work on it, some areas I didn't clean well, but I think it looks good to be the first time :D

                  Holy Cow!! This is from like over a year and a half ago...I thought everyone had like simplified their engine bays till I saw how old it was....

                  Oh well, nice clean engine bay dude, keep up the good work. It'll look real nice once you get an STB in their [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img]

                        He wrapped it with some sort of duct insulation or something that's supposed to help keep it cool during the summer. I forget what it's called though.
