Tinted window cleaning and care

I have had my windows tinted for around a month now. I cleaned them before with this "Tint safe" stuff. It didn't damage my tints at all, but it doesn't get them clean! Major league smudging on the back window inside! Should I use soap and water and a squeegee instead of that tint safe spray and paper towels?

Oh, and my brother told me that using your rear window defroster is bad for tinted windows, and the rear tint will bubble up after a while. Is this true?

I'll tell you the trick into cleaning your windows, use Windex with Newspaper. I know I know it sounds nuts. But just give it a try, I bet your like the results

I had tinted windows for about four years now, and after numerous times using the rear defrosters, the tint never bubbled up on me. As for cleaning, I use the old newspaper and regular windex (as previously stated) and it works great.

The tint man told me to not use windex on tinted window though, he said the chemicals in it would mess it up. I'll try the newspaper though, thanks guys

I use a glass cleaning product called 20/20. I don't know for sure who makes it but it works great. I use it with a terry towel and it works wonders, plus it's safe for tint. I was also told not to use windex cuz it has Amonia in it, which is what the tint shop uses to get the tint off.

I use FilmChem 2000, doesnt have the chemicals like amonia that kills the tint and make it purple.

I use the 20/20 stuff as well but I also wipe over the window with a dry cloth after cleaning it and no streaks... I was told the rear window defrost would actually make the tint bond to the window better because of the heat there...

I got my back window re-tinted they said not to use windex or paper towels!! A big no no. Use light soap and a very soft cloth!! [img]graemlins/toto.gif[/img]

I use warm water and soft cloth. Also use a soft cloth to dry the windows. Does a great job. [img]graemlins/thumbsup.gif[/img]

When I had my windows tinted, the guy told me to use the window defroster in order to help the tint get completly dry and stuck on, so I don't think it'll hurt anything.
As far as cleaning, I know this is going to sound strange, but I use baby shampoo and water. I got the idea from doing a self tint job on my truck, in the tint instructions it said to use a mix of baby shampoo and water to clean and to wet down the window before tinting, and during tinting. So I've just stuck with that, sounds different, but it works pretty good.

i've had 2 car since the time i was 16, A Honda Prelude and My firebird. I guess you could say I've had windows tinted for 6 years and I've always used Windex and had never had a problem. Just giving you my two cents.

wow, my tint guy said use whatever you want to clean the windows. i've been using windex and newspapers on the outside, but when it come to the inside I use regular white paper towels. My tint guy also said that the defroster would not be effected in any way. I used my defroster almost everyday during the winter... tints still good.
