I agree with edge all the way on this one. Black is kick*ss when it's clean, but it's tough to keep it that way for more than a day, especially if you have to park outside like I do :( I had a black Cavalier before I bought my Camaro, and I'd never go back to black again. I vote pewter.

Pewter is a much easier color to keep clean. My old 99 Silverado was pewter, and was an awesome color. However, IMO black is just the sweetest, bastest color on ALL vehicles!! well there's two different blue colors on the firebirds. there's like a soft powderish baby blue on the 98+. then there's a darker blue on the 93-97's. i think the 93-97's are better looking because its a darker blue. it looks more like the electron blue, too. but if its black or pewter. go with black. more class.\'96 Quasar Blue Firebird A4
jamiethekiller@comcast.net
my band: woodland

You simply can't beat the look of a black Camaro/Firebird except with maybe a Sunset Orange Metalic one.. *drools and gets lost in thought* Oh.. or a corvette . If I had to choose between the two I would definetly get black, with black you have lots of options for accent colors, almost everything looks good with it. With a pewter car your choices for accent colors are very limited. I think black is well worth the effort it takes to keep it clean. it depends on how much you wanna wash the car. If you wash it a ton already, there's no point not to go with black. I have a teal (dark green) colored Camaro and I wash it a lot because it looks nicer clean (duh..) and because the paint just shines and you get the full effect with it clean).
either way, i've seen a lot of nice Pewter Ws6's. You just gotta compliment the color with some nice things like the rear deck from a Ws6 or nice big chrome rims on a black car

Stay away from black. It'll look great for a while but later you will regret it. Pewter looks awesome on these cars. It's so easy to maintain. If you do go with black make sure to keep it garaged or at least get a car cover.Black \'97 Camaro w/ CAI, catback

well, thanks to all you that posted. i called the body shop today and gave them the paint code for 2002 pewter, they have all kinds of years for paints. i guess some are a shade darker or lighter, depending on the year. they also said pewter is exponentially more expensive than black . My bro has a black mustang and i feel sorry for him. #1 it looks dirty right now and he washed/waxed yesterday. #2 its a mustang . sounds a lot better than mine though, he has headers, true duals, 2 flows, and high flow cats. n e way thanks to all who posted and i'll post pics when i get it painted. shouldn't be longer than a week.
