  • What to do with my door trim strips?

I'm debating what to do with the that plastic(?) trim strip that runs laterally along the side of my car. You see, it has some kind of white residue that runs along the top of it. I can get rid of it when I wash but it still seems rough textured and may show its ugly head later. I think its either a result of UV or my wife's substandard waxing the last time she cleaned it.

Here's the deal: Should I just get rid of them or are they salvagable? I haven't been looking about but was wondering how it would look without them. Also, how would I remove them if I do this?

If you take them off I believe it will reveal a line of holes. I've thought about this also. I can't stand those things. I have no idea why they're there. If you wanted to do it you'd have to have a body shop fill it and then paint it. Is it worth it, if you have the money and this a car that you'll have for a long time, then probably yeah. I'd like to see it done, I've never seen it before.

If you are talking about the long side strip of molding it is there for a reason, it absorbs some of the door dings if you take it off you will prob. have a lot more spots where little old ladies and kids fling their door into yours. Just my 2 cents.

            I took mine off.
There is just a sticky tape on the back of them attatching them to the door.
I just yanked them off one day when it was really hot and used some orange cleaner to get rid of the sticky residue.
I don't know if I have any pics in my sig, they might be there

            Last page, last 2 pics
Those pics are not that great to see though, sorry
