newly repainted key marks, what do I do now?

Ok, my car got keyed pretty badly and the insurance company wasnt going to give us as much as the price of getting it professionally repainted would cost.
My dad, much to my dismay decided to repaint it - however he did a very good job - you can barely see where it was painted at all... however it is visible.

He's done the clear coat and everything... how do I get rid of the line on the hood between the new paint and the old... I understand that some sort of line is rather unavoidable - but what can I do to reduce it??

Also, the paint looks pretty flat and doesnt feel glossy....

Ive compounded some of it and done some carnuba wax to bring some shine to it - but it still shows....

any recomendations??? thanks!

you should have filled the lines in with bodywork putty before painting. The only way to get deep scratches out is sand the heck out of the area, refill with putty/bondo, and repaint. Other than that, you can buff it the best you can with compound to reduce them a little bit, but it may not look right.

no no - Im talking about the finish of the paint and clear coat - the scratches arent there anymore.

I thought you had to buff across the line to kinda blur it out a little. I'm prolly wrong though.

wow sorry to hear your car got keyed. Not sure if i understand your problem, but if its what i think it is, I'd say buff it with some paint cleaner, or repaint the entire panel

its not hard guys. he means the line where the overlapping new paint meets the bottom old paint. there is a line. can you help him?

You should be able to buff it out.

Not sure if this is possible, but take some paint and blend it with the rest of the hood.

How old is the original paint?

Yeah I was meaning buff across the line between the new and old paint. I should have clarified.
