• Krylon Fusion vs Armor All

I have read a couple of posts here and on other forums that say you shouldn't paint a plastic part that has been treated with Armor All with Krylon Fusion (bad stuff happens).

It is great I found this out before doing it but does anyone have any recommendations for getting the Armor All off of the part? I have have heard rubbing alcohol and a degreaser as suggestions (but not a specific degreaser). Anyone, have anything they have used?

I lightly sanded down the pieces i painted with Krylon Fusion just to make sure i got rid of all the Armor All than i used rubbing alki after that.

Any degreaser would work, 409, fantastik, simple green, even dishwashing liquid. If you are still unsure, sand it down a bit, then put primer, then ur color coat, then a clear coat.

        Thanks for the info!

I have a big bottle of Simple Green concentrate. I will give that a try plus rubbing alcohol afterwards.

        I will post my results.

I painted some of my pieces. Simple green and rubbing alcohol sounds like a good plan.

Some advice...put it on in thin coats waiting a couple minutes between each. Just like 2 or 3. Then the paint will coat better and not leave dimples if there happens to be a spot of oil or something on the paint.

Also, be carefull when touching it after it is dry to the touch. The paint still moves very easily until it has cured all the way. (I messed up a couple of pieces cuz I was an idiot and wanted to see what they looked like right away)

Thanks for the advice camaronat. I have been reading up on this paint and everywhere says to do just what you suggested (paint several thin coats a few minutes apart).

I also read somwhere that it as a 2-3 day curing time (fully cured).

Oh yeah, and do not ever use duplicolor vinyl/carpet paint. It doesn't stick without a primer as I found out. Oh well, nothing more fun that redoing all your interior panels again!

I'm primer/color spraying mine this time.
