  • Painting Advice please

Ok, I've plan on blacking out my center taillight to black on my firebird. Then after that I'm planning on spray painting the bird on blue. I don't really like decals all that much. The thing is I have the stencil made out, but I'm kinda having a little trouble on how I'm going to make sure the paper stays on and not pop up during the painting session. Considering the fact that the flames in between the bird is very thin. I've included some pictures. I hope I made it clear and if someone can help me out with some good painting advice. TIA.

I don't know how much you know about painting, but when I hear spray-painting & car come together in the same thought, it sounds like a bad idea.

For as much as it would cost to take your stencil to a body shop & have it done professionally, its not worth risking a mess of you paint job with a can of spray paint.

sounds like he is talking about the peice in between the tail lights adn he can take that off. as far as a way to make the stencil stay on; make it a 2 person job one to hold down the stencil and spray on there hand cause odds are you wont be able to tape it down and it stay one right and since its small enough someone coudl cup there hands around it where some latex gloves while you do the painting.
      no fate but what we make<br /><a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/748167/1\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/748167/1</a>

Just as an idea you might wanna try some spray adhesive to hold it on. Im not sure if it will work, but the problem will be when you take the stencil off. You will have to wait for the paint to dry and use a paint degreaser to remove any adhesive. Then clear over the whole panel. I don't if this will work, but its just an idea.

Get a piece of vinyl decal material(patch material for RC plaines) from a hobyshop.
Transfer the stencil with a exacto onto the vinyl.
Apply it like a decal and paint then peal it off.
