I have a 96 camaro and i am planning on painting my interior trim around the radio, a/c vents, and around the door locks. What all will i have to do to prep all of this and where would i get the paint for it? I am just starting to get into the looks i have been more for performance in the past.

all you really need is a few different sheets of sandpaper for a smooth surface and some laquer thinner to wipe off the surface right before you start painting...make sure there are no imperfections before you start painting or it will show up very easily, and you will have to start from scratch to get it the way you want it....take your time and you'll love the results....do a search to find what other people have used and there outcomes....it helps ;)

Sand down the pieces real smooth with 400 grit sand paper, then sand them down again with 800 grit. Wipe them off with rubbing alcohol. I used primer on some of my pieces then got lazy and stopped, I honestly can't tell which ones I used it for, so I don't know how necessary it is. I used probably 5-6 coats of paint per piece. Then I went over them all with 3m rubbing compound to get them really smooth, followed by 3-4 coats of clear coat. I used duplicor paint and clear coat. Pics in sig

oh ya...and dont use any old primer, go to lowes and buy plastic primer....its almost a clear coat that bonds with plastic very well...its meant for outside lawn furniture, so its durable...also if your interested, there is a new one step paint out forget who makes it, yet it is designed to "chemically bond" with plastic...havent seen it in any stores yet but saw it advertised

I used krylon fusion on mine...if everything is sanded and prep'd right..that paint goes on really smooth and any imprefections can be sanded with very high grit paper...its prolly the cheapest and easiest mods. And contrarey to other beliefs...the stock inteiror on a camaro is boring...so it really makes it stand out beter.1998 Chevy Camaro :
Custom Yellow/Black Interior, 4\"Cowl Hood,WW Commando Wing, 1LE Driveshaft, Whisper Lid, Fast Toys Ram Air, Hotchkis Suspension......MANY MANY MANY MORE

Re-evolution Street Concepts
Houston , Texas

Pics of the Camaro

Yea make sure you definatley sand everything down very nicely. Or else it will start to flake off over time. When I got my car the vents were already painted red in it. It kind of sucks in a way because the vents are sealed now so if you need to move the air flow you can't. I painted them back black again so it would look stock but eventually I plan on getting new stuff. The speaker grilles are a pain in the ***. They're pretty hard to sand and they flake off horrible after a while.
