Waxing is kinda like a shower and poilshing is kinda like just washing up. You should not have to wax all that often, and you can polish every time you wash your car, or at least I do. Waxing typically adds a protectant to your car's original clear coat that deters things from sticking to the actual paint, rather it lies on the waxing ingredients and is easily removed, I think.

Usually a polish is in a spray form or a very very light water based compound. The polish that I use is the new turtle wax ultra for both. You won't need a buffer for a wax, all you need is a nice waxing/buffing cloth, that should work.

Liquid Glass is a good polish...I used it more than a year ago with no wax and its still shiney and the water beads up real good.
