Cold Cathodes, Neons, and LEDs... Power consumption?
Cold Cathodes, Neons, and LEDs... Power consumption?
When I install them all I'd like to attach them to switches so I can turn them on and off, but do I need to worry about using too many and stressing the catalytic converter?.... or running down the battery when the car is not on...
I think when I'm all done I'll be using either:
2 CCs and 2 Neons
2 CCs and 2 LEDs
or 4 CCs...
It kind of depends on whatever is best for nostril lights.. I'm really not sure as to what I should use for the nostril lights.

First off, the catalytic converter is part of the emmisions equipment of your exhuast system. Any additional load will not affect it. It is a completly different system.
Second, I beleive you may have meant "alernator" rather than your cat. Using Cold Cathods, Neons, or LED will not cause to much load for your alternator. Expecially LED's.
I think you would have to have a whole lot of lights in order to draw enough amperage to cause any problems. People run AuX lights all the time no problem.
The only thing you have to worry about is running the lights when the car is not on. That will drain the battery just like anything else. It is comparable to leaving the dome light on. It will not drain fast but eventually will, because its a battery.
If you do run them while the car is off. just keep an eye on your voltage meter, and dont let it go down below the 10-9 volt area. That might cause problems starting.

As for your nostril lights, I used white Leds when I had mine installed on my stock hood. If you do a search for lights and my member number, you should be able to find the post. I would link to it now, but I am stuck on a Mac at school, I don't like macs.
crap, sorry, I meant the alternator... lol, I was thinking about something I was going to ask someone at my school while I typed that and it involved exaust.
