                if i put tires with height 50 or 55 on it would they rub?

                  The 50 and 55 your talking about is the height of the sidewall, and if your worried about rubbing, then i would go with the lowest sidwall possible, meaning the lowest number, plus it will perform better.

                    I take it you got 4 - 18x8s. If so, then the tires are going to be different in total diameters. The 245/55 18s will be taller as well as wider than the 235/50s.

                    Sure it's not 245/40s??

                      245/45/18 would be my reccommended size.

                      245 is the width/ 45 is the height (45% of the width)/ and 18 is just the wheel size if i remember that all correctly.

                        How to read metric tire sizes:

                        Example: 255/50ZR-16

                        255=Tire Width in Millimeters
                        50=Aspect Ratio, which is a percentage. What it represents is the sidewall height. So an aspect ratio of 50 means the sidewall is 50% as high as the tire is wide.
                        ZR=Z Rated (I'm not 100% positive on that though)
                        16=Rim diameter

                        How to convert metric tire size to American:

                        Convert the width in mm to inches by dividing it by 25.4 (The number of MM's in an inch): 255/25.4=10.39

                        Multiply the aspect ratio in the form of a percent by the tire width: 10.39*0.5=5.0197

                        Multiply that by 2 (2 sidewalls in the diameter of a tire): 5.0198*2=10.39

                        Add the rim diameter to the total of the 2 sidewall heights: 10.39+16=26.04 inches in diameter.

                        Hope this helped

                        Or you could just use one of these: http://www.camarov6.com/cgi-bin/ulti...c&f=5&t=003220

                        Or you could do what I did program it into your TI-86 calculator and have the same thing
