Arite I got into a little argument with a friend over this. Ive got a few scratches on my wing and was talking about getting them touched up. He suggested to just scrap it, and buy a TA rear hatch. My initial reaction was that it would be kind of...weird. Personally, id feel strange having a TA hatch on my v6 bird Asked a friend, he said it would be very ricey, when another thought it was a great idea. What are your opinions on it?! This has prolly been discussed before, but im gonna post anyway to see what you all think
KeN
It isn't a horrible idea. However, i think real firebird fans or trans am owners will laugh at you unless you get the matching trans am badging on the sides and rear tail lights with the bumper. (bascically dump some money and make a clone) Then you have to worry about people wanting to race and you only having the v6 performance. If your going to get the hatch i would remove the wing and get a custom wing in it's place personally.

Im not saying I want to do it, because I honestly think it would be kind of silly to have it. Just looking to see what all you think, im kinda against it

do not put trans am badging on a v6

I'd put the hatch on it, I think the design just looks SO much better then our little flat wing, that collects water But please don't put the badging, if anything put a V6 badge on there just to confirm.
Just my 2 cents.

Personally, i think nobody should care what other people think about your car. You'll be worrying too much all the time and most of the time people don't even really care anyway, lol. I say do what you want. I have a SS hood on my car, call it rice, but I think my car looks sharp with it. I love how a TA hatch looks. If you want to do some appearance mods thats a good way to go. But personally, it's a little outrageous to replace a whole hatch just because of some scratches. Especially if you don't have the money. It'd cost you so much less just to touch it up. Beleive me I had to touch up some stuff on my car and you can't even tell the difference.

What I meant by trans am badging is the Door badges that say TRANS AM, or the center filler that say TRANS AM. The Hatch and all are cool, I just love the way they look, just don't put a badge (door emblem) that says your car is what it isn't. Just tryin to keep him from bein humiliated if another v8 wants to race him

Clayton, you're wrong, what you recommend is what we call ricing it out (making it something it isnt) and that would be bad.

I wasn't exactly recommending it. I just do not agree with the idea of adding a trans am wing on a v6. Anyhow, I actually don't like the TA wing. It is something I would never do.

I really don't think that anyone would notice the differance anyway, unless they were into f-bodies. I got to look real close to see if the car is a TA or a Firebird or a Firehawk or a Formula. I just think that you should do what you like. There is alot of differance between getting something that you like and making it seem like it is something that it isn't. Badges are one thing, and spoilers are another. Just do what you like.

Heck, if I ever had the opportunity to put a firehawk hatch & spoiler on my car (the large beavertail one), I would jump on it in a second.
Nothing rice about it.
Putting trans-am badging on it is ricey, but not the wing, that is appearance.
I personally prefer the V6 spoiler to the trans am spoiler (though the firehawk is better than both). But I also think that anyone who calls it rice is a little rice-a-phobic and cares waaaaay too much about what other people think about his/her car.
If you like the look and want to spend the money, by all means, do so.
