  • Panel under passenger side door dented...

I bought my 99 firebird used. It is in great shape except whoever had it before me managed to drive onto a curb or over a rock or something. As a result on the right side that peice of metal that runs under the door is bent and dented. It is not so bad others notice it, but I know it is there, so it is anoying. Would it be easier to buy that whole peice and replace it or buy some bondo and fix it myself. I read on a site projecttransam.com I think? They had a body repair guidebook, seems easy enough if i have the time, but i have never tried anything like that before. Anyone ever tried to do their own body work before? Should i try it, send it to a pro, or just replace the whole panel?

Hey man, I have the same dent/scratch on mine. I curbed it at a bank. I was soooo freaked out over it too. Last time I ever take my friends to the bank. I think the curb in the lane had a lip at the end, cause I drove strait. I was so sickened by it when I saw what happened. I still haven't done anything to it yet. I could do the body work myself, but I really don't like messing with Bondo. So I was thinking about using my touchup paint to fill the scratch, and then get ground effects. Lemme know what you do, and how much $$$ it runs you. Good luck with it.

SOLUTION!!! I realized how I can fix this... I ironically wrecked my old car two days before I picked up my new one and dented the front of it, a very similiar type of dent too. As a result I have a practice surface to see if I can expect to be able to fix my firebird or not. If my repair work sucks on the old car I will know to have it done by pros, otherwise I will fix it myself and post the repair instructions online for all to see.

Yeah, were talkin about the rocker panel. 900 to fix? I don't even think so, I'll do the body work myself, it's really not that complicated. Dad loves doing body work too, so that will help. I can have the body shop spray me a couple coats of Orange on there though.

I have a big scratch/dent on both side. I hit a rock on the driveway with the passenger side. And I think drives side damage was done when I was mudding.
I'm just gonna get a ground effect. Doesn't the ground effect cover that panel?
