  • Scratches in paint

ive gotten tired of my body kit being a bit scratched up (darn curb at carl's junior) is there any way to cover up the scratches short of repainting the entire thing? the paint is almost exactly the same as the stock paint color, very little fading. waxing hasnt helped, the scratches are too deep. i doubt theres anything, but any help u guys might have would be appreciated

I can't really recommend a whole lot man. That scratch x stuff you always see on tv actually works sometimes. I think it's only $8 and it's probably worth a try. When I wax it only brings out my scratches or bug/rock marks out more. If you have a large area maybee just touch it up? Other then that man, it looks like you'll need a paint job.

get some 3M rubbing compound and a buffer. it should come out. i had a nasty cut/scuff on my hood that went in really deep through all the paint. some rubbing compound took the scratch completely out. it's no longer there at all.

Yeah I'd recommend the 3M rubbing compound with the buffer. That will get most scratches out. If it doesn't, you may want to lightly wet-sand the area with 2000 or 1500 grit sand paper, and then follow up with the rubbing compound and buffer. If you do wet-sand, be very careful. Only do a few strokes at a time and see if it's gone yet, because you can't undo it later.

If the scratch is through the paint then there is absolutely no way to repair it. You can however hide it. Find one of those paint brushes or markers, not sure what they're called and fill in the scratches. You can possibly get it buffed to make it smooth, and if re-clearcoated, can almost look as if it were never there.
