you probably dont need it, but clear coat will bring out the shine a lot better, as well as keep the paint from chipping a bit more

im not too worried about the shine but i heard it helps keep the paint from chipping and makes it easier to clean.

Last summer I painted my calipers on my firebird with some silver high temp paint. Just remember to let it dry enough between coats. i think i sprayed too many coats too quickly, and now it has a few wrinkles it. I also put some black firebird decals on them. It looked great, so i thought i would top them off with some clearcoat....bad idea. The clearcoat turned me nice silver calipers into crappy gold calipers. Now it looks bad.
My buddy did the same thing. he painted his rear end orange to match his car, then sprayed it with clearcoat and it turned from brite orange into a burnt brownish orange.
If you want, when i get home ill let you know exactly what kind of clearcoat i used.
Good Luck..... Sean

clearcote is good, get one that works with the paint you used.

I have my backs clearcoted, (i painted the backs later) and the backs still look as good as the day i did it, the fronts get brake dust on it, and are more of a brown.

the clearcote makes is MUCH easier to clean
