Screw that wing. Get the one off of a 3rd gen Formula WS6 like mine. I LOVED that car.
Its like the 4th gen T/A Spoiler. I'm sure you can find a Formula hatch somewhere ;)Mustangs.. Come to the darkside...

The dark side is the path to the shadow of greed. =D

At the speeds we drive and the speeds at which downforce is actually increased enough to matter, that comment of yours is pointless. At constant highway speeds a small spoiler like a stock 4th gen spoiler or stock 3rd gen spoiler does the most. Not until you have a 10 second or faster car will you need a drag racing wing that sticks off the back because until then the speeds you reach wont do crap for you.Mustangs.. no a double wing would be useless and rice. If you follow the areo dynamic lines of the car. The mustang wing stick out into this stream more. Plain n simple.
the stock 3rg gen Firsbird wing is almost useless. That is why snow and dust collect under it and sits there. No air touches it or hardly any. Kick the sucker back 2-3 inches and its an air grabber.
If often wondered how hard it would be to make some spacers for one. as it would lift and kick it back a tad and stick it right into the air stream.

I don't like the late third gen spoilers, they just look weird to me, plus I do have an original aerowing (already mentione din this thread), but it needs more work than I want to give it & weighs about 30lbs.

Wow - that really looks like some AWESOME aerodynamic windtunnel testing! ....
And you keep forgetting the damn point that our cars dont go fast enough for that to even be a factor. But obviously you know more about Formula rear wings than I do - I mean, we had one for about 7 years and I never saw dust collect underneath it. I must ask though, how many have you owned? You know, third gen formulas? My guess is none.
There is only one aftermarket spoiler in which tunnel testing has been done on and seen improvements.. Thats the LG Motorsports spoiler called the ZR28 Spoiler -- same one they used on their race cars. Otherwise, spoiler are all for show.. Thats unless you run DEEP in the 10s or faster.Mustangs.. That Mustang spoiler looks alright from those yellow TA pics, but when it was installed on ur ride it just doesn't look like it belongs there. Pontiac made a few diff designs as I recall. If you don't like that flat one that KBEEZY suggested, you can get the the one that was on the GTA or they made one similar to that Mustang one, but it was thinner and smaller. Knight Rider had it.
And about the downforce thing, Kbeezy is right, it's all for looks nowadays as everyone seems to like that option and the manufacturer is giving it. How many super cars do you see have it? If anything at triple digits speeds you do see downforce, but you also will see major aerodynamic drag which will impede the top speed. Like the Countach, taking off the rr wing increase top speed from 17x to 18x. They learned it's better to shape the rr lower end of the car so that the air goes under the car and goes up at the end will give it good down force and reduce the Coefficient of Drag.
But some spoilers are effective as they reduce the turbulence at the rear of the vehicle so you get better gas mileage and those spoilers are usually conservative.1999 Pewter Camaro M5
Y87 Performance Package, Sport Appearance Package, Diamond Clears
Factory SS Hood, Free Ram Air Mod, Whisper Lid w/ K&N Air Filter
CarSound Cat 94009, B&B Tri-Flo w/ Quad Tips
BMR SFC, BMR STB, KVR Blank Rotors, Hawk HPS Pads
Black Painted Calipers w/ CAMARO Decal, 245/50 Dunlop SP Sport 5000
20% Rear 35% Side Tint, Red Reflective Inlays, Invincishield
Young girls avert their eyes, weak men tremble, Ford dealers faint.
