  • I removed my painted pinstripes tonight

I found some info on the net saying that you could use easy off oven cleaner to remove painted pinstripes.

I bought some easy off after work today and made sure I shook it well before applying. i started to use masking tape to mask off the area but it started to fall off when when so i just took it off and applied ot right to the car with a sponge brush.

I let it sit for about 30 seconds or so and started to rub it off with a cotton towel (flipping often to a clean spot). only problem was, it kept on smearing onto the rest of the car from my cloth. LOL *must have gone through 4 towels*

Then after i got the pinstripe off I washed the area off with water and dried it. It didnt damage my paint in any way.

I am going to wash and wax the car tomorrow i believe...

Make sure you wear gloves if you do this cause that stuff burns.

car looks better now. No more red and black stripe.

Glad to see you got them off. Mine looks 100% better with them off, except I still have some glue residue I can't get off in a straight line down the whole car...

nothing wrong with my paint at all!!!! *big grin*

Yea i was a little nervous at first but i sorta picked off a little part of my paint with my fingernail last weekend so i had to just go and finish the job and i wish i had used it in the first place.

I think maybe the zaino i had applied a few weeks ago protected it? Who knows... All i know is i wasnt going to let it sit for too long. hehehe

it looks great i gotta post some before and after pics.

cars look so much better with out those stripes. I just had mine taken off while it was in the body shop getting my front bumper swaped.

Yea, probably because the clear of your paint can resist the over cleaner. And the base they painted the stripes with cannot. I don't understand why people paint stripes on to begin with. It makes life so much harder, especially when you have to repair a panel. Glad to hear you got them off though.

Good call man--NOTHING ruins the lines of a car worse--particularly an F-body--than pinstripes.... They're for suits--not cars....

Maybe the zaino i had done to it a few weeks ago had something to do with protecting the car?
