  • Mr. Clean needs to stick to cleaning my mom's floors...

I used to be a big proponent of the Mr. Clean autodry system.

I must've been one of the first to purchase it, because I've had it for several months and let me tell you, it does not last.

The filters being good for "ten washes"? Bullcrap, that window turns brown after about four.

I was at about my fourth wash on the filter and I washed the camaro with that Mr. Clean autodry thing, and I washed it the same that I always had, and it left this NASTY soapy film all OVER the car!!!

I had to wash the whole thing again! So, I thought the filter had gone bad or something, so I replaced it and washed it a few days later. Same thing! Screw this thing, it was not built to last and I'm not pleased with its performance!

I'm going back to the old ways...

That's the first complaint I've ever heard about it. I may have to reconsider, I guess, considering my car is black.

Anyone else, is it worth it?

you have to remember the filter gets plugged faster depending on how hard your water is to begin with. if the water is soft to start, it might last 10 washes...if the water is very hard to start with, then the filter's life will be shortened quite a bit.

That sucks that thing didn't work out, I was thinking of getting one myself. I still say "the old way" of doing things (applying wax by hand or drying off your car by hand) will give you better, more consistent results.

I have heard the filters go bad quick... and some dark colored cars still getting spots...

              but those the only complaints...

I got a waterblade, thing goes alot quicker, and only have to touch up with a small towel to dry the car after using the water blade.

I hate it as well, didn't work. The soap was crap the car didn't AUTODRY, I'll never use it again. I got to looking at the car later, and noticed my swirl marks were back. So the soap stripped two coats of wax. Grrrrrr. I tried it a second time. Same results. Mom and dad used it on the Yukon, same results here too (except for stripping the wax). Wouldn't dry. Did you think the water would jump off the surface of your car. Swirl marks don't just magically come back. If you got rid of them in the first place they would come back because of how you wash the car.

I tried that stuff, but I quit using it after one wash. Now I just use the soap, don't know why but I just like the soap.

how hard is it to rinse your car off and dry it with a leaf blower or a shammy anyway?

I used to be a huge proponent of the autodry system, mostly because it made things extremely easy and I would never ever have to worry about putting more swirl marks on the car while drying. The less I have to touch the car in order to keep it clean, the better. Every inch of the car would be spotless, quickly and easily. When I dry by hand I have to spend quite a while doing so to make sure I get every inch of the car.

Sigh.. it was good while it lasted...

However, after waiting 40 minutes in sunlight, all it did was leave water spots. And evry other time I wash and dry my car, I never strip the wax. The only thing different with the auto dry system was the soap, and that I didn't towel dry it. Sorry, but the system isn't all that it's cracked up to be. I'll stick with my bucket of Armorall CarWash, water, and my old way of doing things.

Oh, and the leafblower idea, it works great, I've been using it ocassionally since I trashed the Mr Clean thing.
