• Gull Style Door Mod made cheap

Okay, the truth is, the lambo door kits are very overpriced, 1500$ 2000$ even 3$ for what? 150-200$ worth of supplies maybe?

Look at the kits and what they consist of.

Hinges, bolts, and 2 gas struts. Thats it. Worth 2000$? I think not.

If I can somehow find a way to make a kit for our cars, thats carefully planned out. Would you guys pay 300$ to $400 for the kit?

Gas struts are dirt cheap.

The hinges will cost more, I will have to make my own style- and have a machine shop cut the metal to my specifications. So that will be a money for labor but not much. Especially If I can find a machine shop that is very friendly, I could get them to do the work cheap. So you figure 40$ for struts, 150$ for metal and labor. Then my profit. I will be sure to make sure the doors are safe. We will do many tests before the product is real I won't hold any warrenties though. And I won't be held liable for any big problems. So its your own risk, Though I will refund if you are not satisfied. So, if you dont put the kit on properly, and the door falls off. I will not be responsible. Much like Tiago's kit, if you blow up your engine, its your own fault

Go for it,it sounds good for yourself, but you might want to do some research about the business aspect of it, or at least talk to somebody. Cause you just can't make overall disclaimers to rid yourself of liability, and warrantees.

Make a prototype for yourself.

I'd be interested.... but you'd have to sell me on it more... maybe with confidence?

the reason they cost so much is the material then profit mark up your right they do cost to much but the brackets have to be strong to hold the wieght differently to the car the shock has to be able to lift and hold the door up. and dont foret about the hinge becasue the door still has to pop out from the body so you dont smash the mirrors on the way up and a new door locking mechanisim must be fabricated becasue the door wil be clossing differently as well and im sure ive forgot something there is a lot to this kit and im not sure you can make it but selling it for 400 may not be feasible. cheaper than the other companies im sure you could, but you have to keep in mind the cost of the work to make one. how many of these things do you see around. that is why they cost so much. the man hours on these things is where the price comes from. this isnt an assembly line project.

now that i have said that sorry for my pessiistic lok to it good luck and if you can pull it off go with it dude. the world nees pioneers to lower costs. good luck dude

If you can make one for $300-$400 and still make a profit, you would make alot of money.
I'm pretty sure there are alot of people who wants this for their car but can't afford the $2000-$3000 price tag. I always see threads about lambo doors in this forum and the camaroz28.com forum.

You are "designing" this?? Haha, yeah just throw some metal brackets together, im sure it will work and look fantastic... it takes more than a couple hours and some metal brackets to create something that works and works well. I wouldent put that crap on my car anyways, much less something thrown together like this.

Theres people who sell the instructions on how to do it yourself, they send you instructions and even where to get the parts, to be honest it doesnt look that difficult to make, on that cd they even tell you that you can use the original lamborghini hinges, i just think that they're overpriced kinda like the t-tops conversion, I being quoted anywhere from $2000 to $3000 for the t-top conversion and we all know that they are not worth that much.

I plan to make a prototype for myself. The design is just the thing that is going to take time. Careful planning will be made, I dont want to just throw together some items and call it a day. I want to see what type of design I can come up with that works best for our car. Not a universal. It probably won't be that difficult but it will take time, some imagination and math. I'll continue to do research, my friend and I plan to do this and sell various custom kit items on ebay. He will have his suspension package for 3rd gen honda owners soon. Alot of 3rd gen honda guys out there.

I maybe able to sell it for 400$ or less. I got my custom front bumper grille for 31$ on ebay, it looks great. a rubber is molded around the sides of it, gives it a very nice touch. thats all the guys does. Aluminum mesh costs nothing. Yet iv seen grilles go for around 200$ Huge markup!

I figure once I make a design that bests fits our cars. I'll blue print it, have a shop cut alot of metal. I'll polish em up, yea maybe 400$ is a little low, polishing is a beeyatch! LOL

But we will see.

I know a couple people who work at custom body shops, The materials and time they use equal alot more thna $200-$300. They use custom designed and hand made brackets for each car and custom Adjustable Struts for door height, most of the time they shave in the fenders and repaint it for clearance. If you wanna tackle this job i say go ahead but its alot more than you think
