I know I an't do it I am no expert on machining metal.

YOu might be able to do the hinge but what looks hard is the struts to help open and keep the doors open. Not sure how to do that?

You already have competition and someone who claims they have successfully made 4 kits that are functional.

            See thread below:

Badazz if you need any help in designing these let me kno i may have some resources/ connections im prototyping. i will agree that this is a rather large undertaking, but soo is everything else. it seem that you are talking about making a prouct that exist more cost effiecient correct? as for your struts that shouldnt be hard, also the hinges shouldnt either, they cost you right around 300 for 2. in kit cars most of the struts they use are from ford astro van rear bay doors. the locking mechanism imo is the hardest part to fabricate, unless you want them to swing out and go up. i have some sites you may want to cheack out ill look for them if you need.

Are we not talking about scissor type doors. For sure gull-wing doors are like those found on a DMC or say a 1955 Mercedes 300SL.

yeah, gull style we'd have to drill holes in our glass for the bracket and roll our doors up. This would be more of a butterfly style door, I think.

Well, it's true the parts don't cost a lot of money, and as said before the labor in getting something like this to successfully work is where the money comes from. Even if you do supply kits to everyone with instructions how many people are really going to have the skill to do this? Not everyone has a welder in their garage to weld the hinges. I couldn't imagine the amount of time you'd spend getting the door perfectly aligned, it would be horrid. I didn't say it couldn't be done, because it can be. But I can't imagine someone with no bodywork experience what so ever putting scissor doors on their camaro. It'd be enough just putting suicide doors on them themselves. I don't mean to discourage you, I watch our customizer at our bodyshop do this stuff all day so I kinda have a better insight. But if you have the time to do it and work it out, I say go for it, it definatley is really cool.
