  • Filmy windshield that I can't clean. :(

My windshield and hatch glass (not my windows, interestingly) have this strange film on their interior. I've used windshield-specific glass cleaner and water and a dry towel and I just can't seem to get rid of these streaks. It's only obvious when the sun is shining directly through them at a certain angle (think sunset or headlights) and the swirls are very obvious.

I tried rubbing it out with a clean cotton cloth when I noticed that rubbing a spot on the inside got rid of them, but they still appear there... now just not as worse. Aside from taking it to a glass shop, how can I get the inside of the glass spotless? Now that it's summertime, i guess I noticed it, but it must have been like this from the previous owner... Any tips are welcome.

is it a greasy sort of streak? it might be armor all or something like that which is very hard to get off glass. i find that wadded up newspaper works very well for taking most things off the windshield.

Yeah, it is a greasy sort of streak... I might have gotten some armor all on it, but it's on the whole windshield. Then again, get it on one spot, and wipe up your shield, and it'll get all over.

      Thanks Loochy.

windex and paper towels (and lots of them).

you need to clean it multiple times. it takes me about 3 tries to get the inside hatch window clean.

It takes forever.... it would'nt be so bad if you didn't have to be double jointed to reach every spot on our windshields....

          Try this.
          - Get a bunch of bath towels
          - Lay them down on your dash
          - Get a bucket of hot water with some dawn it it.
          - use a sponge to wash the inside of you windows
          - really suds them up
          - wipe them off
          - rinse with clean water bucket/sponge
          - dry

Should take care of it but a PITA.

your best bet for a rag is a microfiber, all I use....and just a good ammonia based window cleaner will take care of it ;)
