Does anybody knows what causes spider cracking during painting? I am painting some of my interior pieces with krylon primer, krylon red, and then two layers of clear coat. Sometime the stuff cracks, and sometimes it doesn;t. Sometimes I rub everything down with rubbing alcohol and sometimes I don't. Sometimes I let it dry for 2 hours, sometimes overnight. It seems like a hit or miss, and when it cracks, it takes a lot of sanding and repainting to get the piece back to where it was.
I don't really know what the problem is man, but you can check in the sig for a How-to and follow those instructions, I've never had a problem with mine.

Drying to quick ... good thought ... but there is really no way to slow it down. I was thinking maybe condensation because I am in the basement, but nothing is consistant. My technique is the same, sometimes I am like "oh wow, good job" and other times, it is "oh sh_t, here we go again" Being a chem eng, I can assure you there is no reaction.
Had to be evacuated Monday again after a fire was going on the hill behind us. Only 3-4 hours, they did a good job getting it under control. Especially...
