      here's a more detailed description of what a clay bar does [img]smile.gif[/img] (i just bought a mothers claybar kit yesterday [img]tongue.gif[/img] )

      The clay bar pretty much acts as a sponge to pull up anything on the paint that isn't supposed to be there. You use a libricant along with the clay bar so that it can glide freely without being harshly abrasive to the paint. Because of what the claybar is made out of, it can 'hook' stuff when you drag it over the car, and when it does this, it gets pulled from your paint and into your clay bar.
