• Bored this weekend...

Alright, I've been labeled "tacky" for this number:

http://www.thenebula.com/carpics/pics/12.JPG

It all started when BMR sent a tower strut brace that was more of a royal blue than navy blue.

I pulled most of the stickers off, painted the shocks, brace and some of the tubing. I also painted the numbers on the engine blue (not shown).

Is this really tacky?

I also think it looks good.
Remember this is for your benefit, but the only "tacky" thing I can see is how the wires are kind of laying around. Make them straight and everything will look right.
Good job

Looks like you're going with an Orange and BLue theme - on my blue 02 I'm going more silver/blue all throughout the underhood.

I occasionally and sparingly use red accents like over my 3800-II and I'll eventually do the brake calipers in red (I think).

Nice car - it looks nice - the paint job doesn't look shabby. So you can just paint right over that powdercoat and it sticks?!

Thanks for the compliments, I originally thought about going with silver & blue, but I figured I could get away with one more color. I wanted something to really jump out when you pop the hood.

With regards to the painting of the powder coating, the guys at the parts store thought it was a bad idea. After a quick steelwooling, a good coat of primer, and about 10 coats of chevy-orange it sticks pretty well.

Actually, the hardest part was painting that convolted tubing, I really wish someone would sell that stuff in orange, I figure it should be a popular color.
