Hi everyone

Stupid question - a while ago I got new tires since the stock ones I had pretty much died. At the time I didn't think about rims or anything but now I kind of want nice rims but I don't want to end up buying tires all over again. Who makes nice 16" rims so I can keep the tires I have (Michelin Pilots)?

    Thanks

if you want bigger wheels, go ahead and save up for everything instead of settling for 16's. the same thing happened to me. when i got the car, my dad got me new tires b/c it needed them. then a couple of months later i wanted rims, but i had to get 16'' eagle alloys since i just got new tires. after a couple months i wanted 17's but wasn't allowed to get them. finally 2 years later when i needed new tires i saved up to buy 17'' wheels and payed for part of the tires also. now i love having the bigger wheels and wish i did it from the beginning.

DeKay, I see you are a New Englander like myself. You do know that it snows up here, right? Here's a scenario for you:

You just got your new 16s (chrome or alloy, whatever.) It is November, and snow decides to fall. The Boston DOT will roll out to play, sand, and salt. All that salt will ruin the finish of your new rims!

So here's my suggestion: Bite the bullet and get some bigger wheels and tires. In the spring/summer/fall, you could roll on those. When wintertime comes, bust out old, stock 16s and use those instead.

That is what I am currently doing. I'm not going to risk ruining the finish of my new Borbet Type-Ts! So I saved my old "Flower Power" rims with 215/60R16 Pirelli P4000 tires for the snow.

Back to your question: I really don't know many places that sell 16s for F-bodies; that size isn't exactly in high demand. Why not try the FBV6.com For Sale section, or place a post in the Wanted section? I'm sure someone will want to sell you their old 16s.

i think 16' rims are plenty big enough for the firebird. i seen some bad *** rims for mine that i would give nuts for. but im going to invest in a hood first. either one equals bad *** ride,.. but for your money, they are still a little high, here is the best place to get some bad as sh** rims.

Boston does suck when it comes to snow/ice and those morons putting salt all over everything whether it moves or not I like the suggestion with getting new rims/tires and just using them during the nicer seasons of new england and using the ****ty rims I got now for the winter.

By the way who's watchin the Patriots kill the Jets this Sunday?
