I completely understand where you're coming from man. I musta missed the part about it tucking in behind the door panels. So save the money on the laser cutting, it's definitely not a viable option. I do like the anodized idea though. Go for it man.

i am going to attempt to get some aluminum sheetmetal from my Gfs dad but if that doesnt work then i will consider actual aluminum from the store, ill buy one sheet and see if it is too easy to ruin and if it is then ill get the same stuff i have now and just seal it with a flat clearcoat spray after lots of cleaning. then ill just make two panels out of the stuff i have now which was only 10 bucks a sheet. (still expensive in my opinioin for raw metal) and then ill just duplicate one side for the other door.
i am going to get some more coarse sandpaper to get a little more obvious lines for the brushed aluminum look but it is hard to keep the lines straight, they tend to curve off so you have to keep perfectly straight, the first wipe of sandpaper is the most obvious one, afte that you can still see if u had messed up. i just went over it a hundred more times and it faded pretty good but im still unhappy with the current peice, it was a rushed prototype lol. thanks for the advice and ideas chris
ill continue brainstorming but i am definately going to pursue this mod. i really think it would set the car apart and add anice "oOOh/Awhh!" effect to the inside. anyone know if there is a metal clearcoat that would stick well to well... metal lol... that might be the best way to go seeing as the sheet i used looks pretty good.-Hawk<br /><br />===================================<br />Black 2001 Pontiac Firebird<br />Automatic Transmission Street Bird<br /><br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/550453\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/550453</a> <br /><br />\"Live like you were Dying\"

Maybe in person it looks better but to me it looks kinda funky since the t/a's bumper flares out at the bottom and the rest of the car flares in. Nice mod though for $100, you just need some side groung effects to match.M5, posi, headers-3\"hooker catback, spec2, alum DS, whisper lid & K&N, hurst, eagle 077s w/kumho supras, subframes, 3point stb, trans hatch

Hey I really like the dui brushed aluminum, I think it looks really good for the 1st prototype lol. Definitly love the all black look, I think chrome lettering would look good, give it a lil something somehting..<a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/615442\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/615442</a> <br />_ _ _ ______________________ _ _ _ <br />AIM-Samg5505

Luv your car man, I almosted creamed! I like your door idea, i had the same idea but got kinda lazy on it. I WAS gonna use acutal brushed aluminum tho. Is that too expensive is that y u don't go that route and save the problems of sandpapering? Man i think i'm gonna get back on the door idea too :D will see and again NICE CAR!

Very Nice on the bumper, now its time for the hatch!
Not sure on the metal on the trim panel, might get a little cold during the winter months :D
As for the clarification on the rear bumper, only the T/A and T/A WS6 has the T/A bumper.
Firebird, Firebird Formula, Firebird Formula WS6, and the Firebird W68 gets the Firebird bumper.1999 Pewter Camaro M5<br />Y87 Performance Package, Sport Appearance Package, Diamond Clears<br />Factory SS Hood, Free Ram Air Mod, Whisper Lid w/ K&N Air Filter<br />CarSound Cat 94009, B&B Tri-Flo w/ Quad Tips<br />BMR SFC, BMR STB, KVR Blank Rotors, Hawk HPS Pads<br />Black Painted Calipers w/ CAMARO Decal, 245/50 Dunlop SP Sport 5000<br />20% Rear 35% Side Tint, Red Reflective Inlays, Invincishield<br /><b>Young girls avert their eyes, weak men tremble, Ford dealers faint.</b>

enough with the trans am bumper thing, its off topic and its taking over the original reason for this thread, anyways, ill make a better prototype2 and post it to see if any of you "non believers" like it..
about the hatch... not sure if i am going to do that... i may just get the lip part for the firebird one or somthing because i dont want to try and impersonate a T/A and with the hatch it will definately look like a TA from the rear, but anyone who knows anything about firebirds vs Trans ams will still be able to tell the diffy if i still have the firebird hatch... i may do the pontiac lettering but i kinda like the "BLACK" of it all and might just leave everything blacked out.. i am definately going to black out the sidemarkers both front and back, then ill have a pair of front bumper firebird clear corners for sale, ill let everyone know when i do if anyone is interested, and then i might get my front fog/drl lights blacked out (via spray or a cover that is removable incase i do not like it) or i will change the orange light to white!
thanks all continue with the feedback!!-Hawk<br /><br />===================================<br />Black 2001 Pontiac Firebird<br />Automatic Transmission Street Bird<br /><br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/550453\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/550453</a> <br /><br />\"Live like you were Dying\"

Apparently F1GT is the only one who has seen a Firebird and Trans Am and has the mental capacity to tell a difference between them

eew.... thats a little too extreme in my opinion... i have seen it before and its awesome, but only for a turbocharged v8... too much for my little 6 -Hawk<br /><br />===================================<br />Black 2001 Pontiac Firebird<br />Automatic Transmission Street Bird<br /><br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/550453\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/550453</a> <br /><br />\"Live like you were Dying\"
