anyone remove there front ground effects, mine is looking like hell and it's been panted twice already. i'm ready to take it off and just be done with it. i can also shave 5lbs off the nose of my car..

Please dont' do that... the car's lines will be ruined :(

I've nose-dived into lots of stuff before... I just keep some silver touchup paint in the glovebox ;)

It's not too hard to take off, just get the front end up on jacks and you'll see all the bolts to remove, remember the 2 plastic clips in the wheel well too.

If you take the front off, lose the rest too... it'll look dumb. Or, get a front piece from the newer style that doestn' go all the way around the nose.

    Good luck.

see i don't want my car to look silly, but the piece is looking pretty rough. i might just sand the thing down and spray it myself with some spraypaint. i will look much better than it does now..

That should work, just be careful about the depth of the paint... you'll need clear coat for sure.

I've been painting a headlight blackout trying to match the colour up and i'm having trouble getting the tones even. The car silver is a lighter tone than I can get the blackout... granted i haven't clear=coated it yet and that will make a huge difference!

Good luck man.. i've though of doing it myself before but i've chickened out on the body panels.

I like the look of the 97- without the front fx. Theres a green one around here that probably did the same thing as you and it looks good. Why don't you just take it off and leave it off for a while while you figure out painting it? Then if you like it just leave it off or paint it and put it back on. What color is your car? Maybe you could paint it black to get away from matching colors, just a thought.
