Paint

Right now my bird is Metalic Green, but I want a little bit darker, like a Forest green or something like they have on the C5 vettes. I want something a little more though, maybe some sort of silver or white stripe or something? Any ideas? Also, how much would a custom pain job be like that, I want it to look like it just rolled off the showroom floor when it's done, so not some cheap paint job. Thanks.

7K-10K for a good one. more for a real carshow paint job. white on green would look good

7-10 is extremely high, even for a high quality job. its more like 3 to 5.

where ever you go, ask to see an example of their work before you get the car painted. then you can see if you are really going to like the quality of it.

yeah...i'd say 3 - 5 ...reason being is because if you want show car quality you need at least 3 coats of clear coat..at least..i have 3 on mine...but i just got that and a red stripe so it was only like a grand ...if you want stripes, flames, something like that..it'll be 3 - 5 ...or you could just paint the car..and then go to thirdgendecals.com ...but i would get whatever you're gonna do in paint cuz you'll already be at it anyway...plus close up it looks so much cooler...even the white "ram air" on my hood scoop is paint...i just used the decals as a mask

A show car paint job will run you about $20,000.

A real nice paint job with no orange peel will run you $5K

A good overall paint job for a car thats driven on the street will be about $2000

Maaco will charge $199

^^^depends what you want...i was just talking about solid colors ...the more graphics/details then yeah..the higher the price...i would go somewhere closer to the 5K ..a really nice paint job that you can also show..depends what shows you're at too...my exterior styling...3 coats of clear and the stripe were probably close to 2K ..but the shows i do are only 300 - 500 cars..when you break down the classes i usually end up being up against 20 - 30 other cars

define show car paint job. if were talking extreme graphics all over the car and wild pearlescent paints and 5 or 10 coats of clear then yes, but a very nice Forest Green paint job should run no more than 5k.

i suppose you could find examples of some simple paint jobs that have run that high, but you have to equate that to ordering a 50 bottle of wine, or a 500 dollar bottle. it may be a little bit better, but i doubt its 10 times better. im not suggesting everyone goes out to get macco supervalue paintjobs, but if youre paying anywhere 10,000, youre paying too much.

yeah...just make sure you dont ruin the car or get something you'll later regret lol ...id stick with with something subtle...ghost flames or racing stripes [img]smile.gif[/img]
