Im pretty sure that those were made! The person took the tail lights off and and put a hot blow dryer on them to melt the plastic (red) then peel it off. I think that might work!

Yeah those are made, I think I ran across a link to another board on here about them. Don't remeber the post the board or how they went about it. Not sure what I think, yet another that would have to be seen in person

            you live in texas.

i wrote over 200 citations last year for people having tail lights just like those. might want to think real hard about doing it.

From what I under stand you can have those clear lights as long as they light up red and one white to reverse. Not to sure but positive, I'm taking criminal justic classes for a career as a DPS officer but I'll ask in my trafic management class. ;)

I don't think he wrote those just for the fun of it.

Look at the clear taillights on a Lexus IS300. That's what legal clear taillights have to look like.

i turned down a job offer from DPS 3 years ago.

that's the law you need to ask about; the one that adopts the federal standard.

you can also contact earl summerford. he's the legal counsel for DPS on vehicle equipment. i've talked with him quite a few times.

and here's some of Chap. 49 C.F.R. Section 571.108 http://fmvss108.tripod.com/taillamps_all_clear.htm that pertains to clear tail lamps.

--one more thing...you don't have to have a backup lamp. and if you do, it can be amber.

Well thats that no more clear rear tails for me but they do look nice. Also I heard a DPR office does not make that much and it takes, I think 5 years to get promoted. I was thinking border patrol as well but not sure. DPS sound more of a rush.

i don't like the idea of having my closest assist being 2.5 hours away. and i don't have any desire to move to crockett county.

i got the job offer and turned it down. now i'm going to law school. a little bit of a pay difference as opposed to DPS.

i have several current and retired trooper friends. their motto is "friends don't let friends become troopers." but don't let that deter you.
