Looks really great Gary....just like I said in the email : ) but now looking at your car I have some better ideas!
Take a look at this pic of the motorcycle tank that was at a show we went to. I had said if I had a car that color I would do flames just like this! Tell me whether you agree or not! I loooooveeee this color combo! ;)

If I had that motorcycle and I crashed it, I would be soooooo pissed ...looks awesome
The flame lid looks great man I don't know if it's just my monitor (it's shows kinda brighter when it shouldn't) but the black looks faded. You should of painted the rest before you did the flames. Although it looks good man.

painted hell, that thing needs some soap and water.

quote:
if I had a car that color I would do flames just like this

daaaam i need me some flames like that, i saw a paint job dangerously close to that at lil sturgis last year. guy had a 32 3 window, bike and trailer all painted to match.
now accepting donations of an airbrush and case of pinstripe

quote:
but the black looks faded

the black is just the factory plastic after cleaning it with alcohol, i didnt paint it because the flames were really a first draft. i have some pencil marks on the lid where i was trying to get and idea of how some shadowing would look
thanks for the responses all, hopefully have some new pics after this coming weekend when i have some time off to do more. ( sigh... i think i need a spare intake lid)

1) I use different stuff all the time. Simple Green, Z6 (Zaino), Windex, formula 409, ect. Just whatever happens to be closest to my hand when I start cleaning. The key is to clean it good once and then just wash it everytime you wash the car. I will just barely be dirty then.
2)I made them myself. Just used some gutter guard that I got from Lowes (about $1.50 for more than enough) and then used some 3M emblem tape to fasten the peices that I cut out to the car.
