  • Shaved handles cracking

When I streamlined the bird I shaved the door handles. I had this professionally done but now the fiberglass where the handles were covered is cracking. I know the guy who covered them and he is very good at body work but he had never shaved handles on a composite fiberglass door before. We talked about a few different methods and decided to use 3M panel bonding and fiberglass over it. This stuff is super strong and we used to around the edges of where the handles use to be and fiberglassed over it to smooth it out. The weight of the door shutting is causing it to crack around the edges now. I want some of your ideas on possible ways to shave them without this happening again. Sorry bout the long post.

I'm not sure what is happening. Do you have a picture (exen before the cracking)?

I thought our doors were metal? Theres someone else on this board that has shaved doors. For the life of me I can't remember his board name but it's a yellow 98+ bird on airbags. I'm sure someone knows who I'm talking about, you should get ahold of him.
