  • Mecham Wing installed!

my guy at the body show said he's got the wing fitted and should have it on the car tomorrow. I'll try 2 post pics from my digi-cam for u guys tomorrow night. It'll be done either tomorrow night or friday, and when it's done, I'll have even better pics for u guys. it'll be color matched to the car, so u can see how it'd look w/o it being a different color or any stripes or anything. $400 shipped for the wing directly from mecham, and $750 to fit, feather, bolt, glue, bondo, primer, paint, sand, buff, and clear coat it. grand total: $1150.

ok, I dropped the car off monday, and they just got done fitting it this morning, so 2 days worth of fitting and feathering. they're gluing it as well as bolting it on. they're sinking the bolt holes so that they can cover the bolt up w/ bondo so I get clean lines along the outside. They had to bolt all along the outer edge of the wing because the mold wasn't perfectly flush to the car. they used glue also, but didn't trust it to hold the wing on. They estimate that I'll get the car back saturday sometime, but they don't know when yet.

That is alot but it sounds like he's getting a really good job done. It'll match the car perfect. More than I would be willing or able to pay but it'll look damned nice. Get some pics up when it's done

this guy has done sooo much work to the car. he's had it since monday morning and I just called him and he said he's gonna work tonight till it get's done, anywhere from 8-11 it could be done. sooo much bondo-ing and sanding, over and over to get all the bubbles out of the bondo. this guy probly has no fingerprints left on his hands. every time I go over there to see how it's shaping up, he's either bondo-ing or sanding it again. tomorrow the pics will get put up. I hope GFX will be cheaper and take less time than this did.
