I got my 2001 Z28 gauges in and used the Auto Tap to check the tach, and the AutoTap said I was idling at 780-790rpm and the tach said a hair less than 800rpm. My uncle who is 4 time Master GM certified said the new ones are all the same and uses the computer to get the rpms unlike the old mechanical style. Anyway everything is like it should be tach, speedometer, etc. are all correct. The only problem I had was the Air Bag light came on and said I needed to syncronize it the modules again. anyway I got my uncle to do that and it went away. so all is correct except for the odometer. I only know this about a 2001 so the tach MAY be off on other models but not on mine.

I'm really tryin to say that the tach on a 2001 is correct if you switch from a V6 to a Z28 155mph gauge cluster. Other topics say that the tach is off but mine isn't off in the least bit. Only problem is the odometer says the mileage of the donor car. I only know this to be true in 2001 though, and the gauges are year specific: 2001 v6 switch to 2001 v8 speedometer. just helpful advice to anyone who wanted to switch out their gauge cluster.
