I'm getting a new hood for my car, and i was wondering how hard the installation is on the hood, and should i get the hood painted before i put it on my car or after? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Take it to a body shop they will paint it and put it on for you. Well, at least my shop did that with my SLP Ram Air H.O. Hood for me. Take a look at it in my sig

I got my hood painted while it was on the car. I guess it doesn't matter. you could go either way. they have to cover the whole car obviously if you put the hood on first.

I change my hood back to stock once a year to pass inspection. It takes a minimum of 3 people to change it. One person for each side to unbolt/bolt the hood, and one person in the middle holding the hood up and keeping it from sliding back into the windshield.

In VA, you aren't supposed to have a cowl more than 2 inches above the visible line across the bottom of the windshield. A lot of shops let it pass, but the majority of them are sticklers about it.

How much did this cost? What is an average price i should expect for having my hood painted, that way when i go to get prices this week i know i'm not getting ripped off.

I had my SLP Ram Air H.O. hood for my firebird painted and installed for $200. I thought that was a pretty good price. The shop did a decent job.
