There is a company that makes Firebird Bodys. Look around on Yahoo Search for that.

i cant think of anyreason why you couldnt just swap out body panels though and leave everything else the same

i also remember seeing a while ago a car that had the front end of a camaro and the back of a firebird.... or maybe it was the other way around

why? It would cost as much as buying a used firebird, then you would have a camaro and a firebird. Whatever floats your boat

What year firebird style are you going for? '93-97 or '98-02?

my friend has a '96 Z28. he's putting a '99 front clip on it now. total cost is $800. he traded in his parts for the new ones.

if you found a salvage yard that would take your parts in trade, then figure in the paint...probably $1500 or so. it's just a curiosity i have now. that's not a bad price for an almost completely different car. then put camaro stickers on your trans am body and watch the message boards fill up with "some gay guy put 'camaro' on his trans am."

I looked at the rear of the Camaro compared to the rear of the Firebird. To exchange the rear tailights, you'd have to change:
1- the whole glass hatch setup, incl. spoiler
                    2- rear bumper
3- weld in new quarter panels because they are infact different
4- something else I forgot because I'm tired

To change the front bumper from Camaro to Firebird:
                    1- hood
                    2- fenders
3- external rearview mirrors to make it look right
                    4- headlight motor setup
5- and a few more things, but again...I'm tired and can't think.

It's a good project for someone has the time, money and garage space (and isn't tired). All in all, I'll keep the make I have. If I want something that sticks out in a crowd, I'll but an import. J/K

doors? hood, hatch, 4 fenders, 2 bumpers. I think thats pretty much every body panel. Might as well throw in a t-top conversion while your at it. definately not cost effective

can you honestly tell me you bought your car because it was "cost effective?"

actually no new car is cost effective if you really think about it, its a terrible investment. The cheap cost was a reason to buy my car, but thats a different point. i dont think id make the investment worse by changing evey single body panel on the car....but if you do, i might decide to get into the body shop business, i know id make a lot off you.

current value of car 10k. + 5k to do the work= 10k car with 15k in it.

current value of car 10k. Sell for 10k, buy different one for say 12k, 12k car with 12k in it.

I say if DV wants to do it and he has about 2-3k's let him do it and more power to him. I think everyone is too dang narrow minded and needs to open up to new ideas and support people.

                            Ok enough of that.
