how can you tell if a shift knob will fit. what diameter are we looking for (Im talking about auto shift knob here)

For use with automatic transmission single-button shift levers up to 5/8" diameter only. Allen wrench, screws, rubber bushings and instructions included.
You'd have to measure your shift column. Just take a ruler and eyeball it. It's only plastic, so you can shave it down a bit if necessary.
I always thought those things were universal. My aftermarket was one size fits all.
