  • Car Cover

I need a hellacious car cover, one that won't harm my car in any way yet will protect it against hurricane type rains here in FL and hot UV braking sun rays. I'm looking for one that will last and is of good quality.

    Can anyone recommend me one?

SLP sells an excellent car cover.

My mother has a an 01 SS and got the SS car cover. I've used it a few times on my bird when I've gone away on vacation.

Its very high quality, but its kinda pricey.

    Good luck!

Weathershield by Covercraft is the best choice in my book. It repels water very well, is washable and blocks UV. It is made of encapsulated fibers that are excellent at blocking water and sun. It won't hurt your finish. The downsides are: 1. Nearly impossible to put on on windy days, 2. Thin fabric offers no real ding protection 3. Water rolls off it (and onto you unless you're careful) when you remove it wet.

The water is kinda of interesting to watch as it rolls off the cover. The water forms little balls sort of like mercury.

I've had mine over a year and it still is in great condition. The only sign of aging is that the cover fabric has faded a little. I have seen absolutely no sign of the fabric breaking down. I have seen no sign of any damage to my finish from the cover. The car's hot exhaust outlets have not done any damage to the cover.

One other issue I noticed is that the cover would sometimes try to blow off on very windy days. I sometimes put the cable lock on it (like when I park in Miami  ), but I found that binder clips hold it on perfectly. I clip the cover to the GFX at the four corners. I suppose one should be able to do the same for non-GFX cars.

I bought mine from Big Sky Car Covers.
