I am really looking into getting a SS hood. I love how SS hood look they are just sick and we all know it. But they are expensive the best price i have run into is like 550 plus tax and shipping and paint. So i was just wondering if anyone else knew if a better price or if anyone had seen a black Camaro with a Carbon fiber SS hood on it yet, cause i know they are made and i was just wondering how they look in person. I am assuming they look not good and unamerican, but some muscle cars look sick with carbon fiber hoods.

Good luck getting guys here to agree a carbon fiber hood would look good. They are so anti "rice" that they'll look over the weight savings of the carbon fiber to metal or even fiber glass hoods, just b/c the imports have it. I personally don't like the look of carbon fiber, but everyone to there own. I actually didn't even know they made them. I'd say try google.\'97 Camaro 3.8L

rksport sells one, u know u can always paint the hood, most people dont just so they can show off the carbon fiber look, i actually like the look. and on a black car it will look clean! it will be subtle but stand out at the same time*1997 Camaro v6 3.8*
President of NorCal Sinister Six

LwnGy83, u jump to conclusions too quickly. I (being a strong anti-rice person) actually like carbon fiber hoods that are painted tastefully. A little show of carbon fiber is OK, like the 50th anniversery corvettes, but as the entire hood showing the carbon fiber, no...2000 Navy Blue T-top Camaro A4
TSP Rumbler
Carsound Hi-flo Cat
!MAF screen
Whisper lid
HPP3

REAL carbon fiber through and through is gonna be pricey. chances are the hood you are looking at is a fiberglass hood, with the top layer being pseudo carbon fiber.
to address LwnGy83's post about weight saving, I agree many folks here are rice-aphobes, but as far as weight saving goes, if you arent a hardcore racer (autoX, or drag) I dont really think the weight issue should be brought up when discussing carbon fiber hoods.
for most people its about looks rather than weight.I guess I\'d have answer your question with another question.

How many Abidiginals do you see in modeling??????

headers, 3inch magnaflow cat, Loudmouth
99 Midnight Blue Firebird
3.8L A4

heres the carbon fiber hood. Its not a traditional SS hood, the scoop is bigger, but I like this one a lot. The only thing I dont like about it is the price. Im debating on buying it just because I have the money from my tax return. Hope this helps. also, you can visit http://www.importfan.com/index.php?m...th=104_117_124 to see some more extensive line-up of carbon fiber parts for the Camaro.2001 camaro v6 red convertable
ggotta go fast... Like titanium, carbon fiber is one of those amazing materials. I personally like the look of carbon fiber; but, it is not all about the looks. Carbon fiber is very strong and very light weight. I just do not like it when people go overboard with it on street cars. A carbon fiber hood on a black camaro would look good(depending on the hood and other modifications - very fine line here) and I would not consider it to be rice; however, add a carbon fiber spoiler and some fake carbon fiber accent pieces, then i would indeed consider it to be ridiculous.2000 Monterey Maroon Chevrolet Camaro
3.8L V-6/4spd Auto

I'd be tight if you painted the hood but like left the part carbon fiber in the shape of the anniversary stripes\'99 SSM Camaro V6 M5
(mod list on cardomain site; too long to list here)
http://www.cardomain.com/id/v6cam99

Never said that the 550 price was for the carbon fiber hood that is just for a normal one.2002 M5 camaro- VTR CAI, custom cat-back exhaust, battery compacitor, pullie, lowering springs, 32mm sway bar, cross-drilled slotted rotars. 1-10\" L7 in cubby.

Well fellas, I just ordered the carbon fiber hood! They said it should arrive in about 3 weeks, as they have to make it to order then ship it. I will try to post pics as soon as I can for all the skeptics out there. For all those who havent yet taken the time to see it, heres a pic.
If your lookin for a cheaper fiberglass version, you can go to www.fiberglassfabricatorsinc.com and they have it for $375. I have this one and am very satisfied with it. But I think the carbon-fiber will set off my car a lot more. I will probably sell my existing hood at some point in time. Talk to ya later guys.2001 camaro v6 red convertable
ggotta go fast...
