i dont know guys, im getting ****ing sick of black paint.... here in the valley (california) i cant seem to escape the dust and everytime i dust my car or wash it i kNOw that im causing swirlies... then i see them and theres nothing i can do except dream for the day that i will get it polished and perfect, but that may cost a bit of money and then what, itll just get scratched again..... i love black when its clean but maybe its time to let go and buy another bird...

this could also be a point in which i could get an 8 if my parents allow, (no tickets or violations yet so maybe if the insurance isnt too high i can get some more cylinders) lol but what colors do you guys recommend.. and if i were to just have my car painted, what color do you recommend.. my GF and parents were contemplating getting me a new paintjob when xmas rolls around...bless their hearts [img]smile.gif[/img]

any ideas? i like the dark maroon color but then again... darkness = swirlies.. i know silver is like the best when it comes to scratches but its so plain looking i think! nvm is ok too but i kinda like the sunset orange as well.... any suggestions are welcome, especially if accompanied by pictures, please help me out here i am lost and confused...i am also sorta attached to my bird, it being my first car, i will most likely get it repainted... then when im older and have a job ill get me a firehawk [img]smile.gif[/img] (my legal name is hawk so it will be all gravy)

actually i really like black cars, as you said.. when they are clean

but i wouldnt want one cause, as you said, than are a PITA

anyway.. my point is.. my red car, unless you get right up on it, seems to always look clean, even when its quite dirty.. i've had comments asking if i had just waxed my car when i have certainly not.. i bring them to within a couple feet and they finally notice the lack of cleanliness..



for instance.. this picture of my car was taken saturday, and in the chicago area it was 40 degrees, 30mph winds, and it rained.. i had not washed my car for at least a month, and i'm pretty sure there are bugs splattered on the front end, dirt along the sides by the wheel wells etc..

Pewter is a little more exciting than silver, but it hides everything. It wasn't even my choice of color for the Firebird, but I wanted it to be a 5-speed and it was all I could find. It doesn't look as good when it's dirty, but you don't really realize it's dirty and it doesn't show swirls at all.

My mom has a Pewter Trailblazer and I haven't washed it since June, and it's been driven a few thousand miles and still looks decent. Before that I think it was washed in November.

on my white car you cannot see any swirl marks at all during the day if thats what your worried about...at nite you can pick them out but its not that noticeable.

well black and white cars are the hardest to keep clean looking beause the dirt stands out so cearly on it. Me personnaly I don't care I love to look of a jet black car I don't ind taking the extrea time keeping it clean. Althoe you would blieve that by looking at my car right now but since I'm getting it painted soon I really don't care what it looks like at the moment.

my camaro is cheyenne (dark maroonish) and i love it so much, doesnt show dirt at all on my car and most cars down here in florida get pretty dusty. but the silver rims show a lot of dirt and the cheyenne paint looks sweet with dirty bronzish rims [img]smile.gif[/img]

well....i think that the cheapest solution would be to get my car polished and start fresh, the previous owner peing a spoiled teenager (yes im a teenager too but this guy gets a new car every 6 months so he probably doesnt care too much)anyways im prety sure that most of the swirlmarks occur when one wipes the dust off of the car when its dry... and also by what tools used during the trying proces....

i have heard some good things about the waterblade, but im buying one from this "better car care" site, the guy who wrote all those articles about the PC7424 buffer and stuff, has been helping me out on my decision. i am thinking that i need gentle cleansing method.... so im going to work on that, once i get my car polished i wont touch it with a duster, only thing to remove dust will be water, and then the only thing used to try it would be a microfiber towel or maybe this blade.... anyone have any idea if the squeegee things will cause scratches or swirlmarks? i know that they will if you didnt clean the car enough and get some dirt stuckin the rubber.........anyways, i could get it polished and start with clean paint and then work my *** off to keep it clean and scratch free, waxed to the max lol....thnaks guys..

Cayenne Red. Rare color, looks beautiful, and you'd be the only Firebird with it (at least I've never heard or seen one with it).

I was wondering about that myself. I heard someone say pewter was more exciting and flashy than silver?? Both of them are pretty plain colors to me.

However, it can me made to look less plain. I used black for an accent color since the grilles behind the front wheels were already black. I put on the black "pontiac" rear insert and a couple of black product decals right above the grilles, then I ripped off the silver "firebird" trim at the bottom of the doors and replaced them with new black ones to give it that "anniversary edition" look. I'm thinking about black door handles and maybe a black fuel door, but I'm not sure about those. Some black racing stripes are definitely coming though [img]graemlins/naughty.gif[/img]

Whever you do, stay away from red! It's almost as bad as waving a red flag in front of a bull. My last car was red, and I know from experience that they are just a target for police, which is why insurance is higher on a red sports car. I've only had one ticket, and it was in my red Grand Prix. But then again, I was doing 92 in a 70; that MAY have had a little to do with it. But there's been plenty of times I've been nailed speeding in my 'bird and just knew I was in for a ticket, and the cops never even flashed the blue lights at me.
