  • molding the body kit

I finally got my predator body kit and I want to get it molded on then get it painted.
I'm going to do this myself and I was wondering what do they use to mold a body kit on a car?
Do they just use bondo or something? Or is there something like body especially for molding body kits?

it's typically bondo. it'll add some weight to the car tho, if done right. bondo, sand, bondo, sand, bondo, sand, over and over till all the little bubbles are out of it and it's feathered in well.

OHHH YA... bondo weighs a ton if done right. you gotta realize, you cant just bondo a certain area just once and be done with it... well to do it right anyway. you gotta keep goin over and over and over. sanding is the key too making it look smooth, and that takes a while too. now think about goin all the way around your car to make the kit all look as one. ya, i just let someone else do it from now on. i used to do stuff like that back in highschool. i made a lowrider bike frame for my younger cousin and welding on the sheetmetal was the easy part. after i was done, the whole front half of the car was covered with bondo. took me 3 weeks to finish (but only got to work on it 3 times a week for about a total of 3.5 hrs. a week). so good luck on your project and i hope it turns out great.

Keep in mind it's going to cost a lot to get someone to mold it on for you. I wouldn't try it by myself unless I had experiance and the tools necesarry to do all the work. Another thing to worry about is if you wreck your car or snag the ground effects on something and it breaks the bondo your going to have to have it all redone again. It does look better than normal but in my opinion molding the ground effects just isn't worth it.
