Originally posted by BLLDOGG: the way i know to do it is to take them to a powder coating shop.
yup...thats how i've heard too..i know a guy who had a white Z28 and wanted that 30th anniversary look...did some stripes and powder coated the rims white...it looked awesome
I have an extra set of salad shooters without tires sitting around. I am thinking of powdercoating them in black. I don't know of any local shops that'll do it, but I'm sure they are around. Don't know what to do with the centercaps though I'm not sure if I want them powdercoated or not.
yeah, powdercoating is the best way, any other way will look like **** after awhile. I was gonna powercoat the rims on my gtp white until i sold it. the estimated me at $45 a wheel

Yep, easy and cheap. Some how the clear coat got chipped off one of my wheels, I figured it couldn't look any worse so i took some 2000 grit sand paper and sanded down a little spot then spray painted it with just normal duplicolor clear coat. Looks great, actually if you look close it looks better than the rest of the wheel. It's held up for almost a year now and still looks perfect.

Sorry for bringing back an old topic but does anyone have pictures of salad shooters from a 96 camaro painted/powdercoated black???
My 1996 Camaro can be viewed at: <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/516798/1\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/516798/1</a>
I painted the wheels on my 94' Camaro (salad shooters) from white to dark gray. I just cleaned them really good, then took a burgandy scuff pad (3M makes them) scuffed them with that realy good. Then I primered them heavy, then painted them with dark gray, and then finally clear coated them. Did this about 3 to 4 months ago and have not had any problems. Just a cheap alternative. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
