  • black smudge on my door

I have this black smudge on my door (not too noticable its so low) which wont come off. I tried a claybar on it thinking it was tar or something but its not budging. It does look like tar though. I believe i tried bug and tar remover (real old bottle tho so maybe its lost its potency) and its still there.

Any ideas? Its clearly on the surface, not scratched into the paint or anything.

the only thing better than a clay bar would be a light rubbing compound. dont polish too much though or you might damage your paint.

you might first want to try a lightly abrasive swirl remover like Meguiars fine cut, and then follow that up with a little glaze over it. if that doesnt work then try something a bit more abrasive.

how big is the smudge anyway? do you have a pic?

I wish i could get some pics of it but the computer has been giving me trouble with my digital cam and with anything else external. LOL

I will see what I can do though. I am going to mess with it tomorrow and if I must, I will go to Advanced Auto and get some more supplies.

Its raining out now, otherwise I would be messing with it today.
