I'm guessing you are talking about the factory stripes, such as the ones on the anniversary editions. Those are vinyl.2000 Red Firebird W68 -

TriFlo99 has them on his Camaro. They look really good and he did them himself. Black vinyl.

just did mine 2 weeks ago, and I like em'!
I bought them in black, and it took me about 2 hours to complete. Now I'm just waiting on some decent weather up here in the NE part of the States to wax the car and bring it out for some photo's. It's been really lousy up here in the past week.
